Care Forward is the successor to Vluchtelingenwerk in the municipality of Midden-Drenthe. The organization will help status holders to feel at home faster and to participate in society.

Last night the collaboration officially started a meeting in which Care Forward explained his way of working. “We think it is important that newcomers quickly feel at home in Midden-Drenthe. With the expertise of Care Forward we can guide them in their integration. Together we ensure that they feel welcome and can participate in our society,” says alderman Jan Schipper (CDA).

Two weeks ago, to his great disappointment, refugee work was told that the collaboration with the municipality would stop after twenty years. For the first time, a public tender was held for the legal assistance and integration of people with a residence permit, so -called status holders.

Several parties could respond to the tender. A requirement was that they did that anonymously. Nevertheless, Vluchtelingenwerk was recognized because it called the names of organizations with which it worked together. The municipality excluded the refugee work from participation. That is right, the judge ruled earlier this week. Refugee work saw the work on his nose.
