When it comes to FC Bayern, Boris Becker knows no reluctance. After a critical analysis, the tennis icon counters clearly.
The English TV expert Jamie Carragher sparked a discussion with statements about Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. The former Liverpool professional questioned whether the 38-year-old was the right choice for the German record champion. If Bavaria fails against Bayer Leverkusen in the upcoming Champions League round of 16, his obligation will be “questioned”, says Carragher. Bavaria has so far not convinced him that the duel against Leverkusen was one at eye level, but the Englishman taps a success of the Leverkusen.
Carragher doubts that Kompany’s work will do justice to the high expectations: “If Kompany does not win, there will be many question marks for its appointment because the league is expected anyway and the Champions League is the icing on the cake of one season. They have to reach the semi-finals,” said Carragher’s assessment.
This assessment is particularly popular with Boris Becker. The former tennis professional and confessing Bayern fan now disagrees Carragher on platform X. “There was no doubt about the commitment of Kompany! In fact, Bavaria said that the national title was the most important trophy this year and that the work of Kompany is satisfied! Jamie is not well informed at all …”
Carragher took Becker’s criticism with humor. In his answer to X, he apologized with a wink: “Sorry Boris Becker, that doesn’t happen again!”
Becker is known for his close connection to FC Bayern and was recently guest at the club’s 125th anniversary. There he emphasized: “I have indeed a fan for over 40 years, almost 50 years old. As a little boy in Leimen, my favorite club was not Karlsruhe or Stuttgart or Frankfurt, but always FC Bayern. Of course, that was due to the players Beckenbauer, Hoeneß, Breitner. And this love has remained until today.”
