What Hannover’s sports director Marcus Mann confirmed exclusively to the transfer market at the beginning of the week is now officially: midfielder Marius Wörl will return to Maschsee from his loan from Bielefeld in the summer. In addition, the working paper, which was originally running by Lower Saxony by 2026, automatically extended.
“Bielefeld has drawn the purchase option agreed as part of the loan. Hannover 96 then activated his right of surrender. In the course of this, the creative player’s contract extended by another year, ”says the announcement of the Reds. Wörl was once again becoming Bielefeld’s match winner in the DFB Cup quarter-finals against Werder Bremen. The 20-year-old trained at TSV 1860 has been awarded to Arminia since the summer of 2023, and since then 15 scorers have been in 67 competitive games.
Mann announced on Monday to the transfer market: “We take the development as extremely positive. Last year it was seen that the season in the 3rd division did very well. This year he has become an absolute regular at the Arminia. Since this season he has been used much more aggressively, which suits him well because he has a good feeling for the room. In the cup he made particularly aware of himself. His statistics are of course impressive. He is instrumental in the fact that Bielefeld can now play the quarter -finals. We are very happy about his development and of course we are also happy to welcome him again in Hanover next season. ”
“Our scouting department is always on site at the Arminia games. I was only eating something with Marius a few days ago and I am always well informed about how he is doing and what the current status is with him, ”continued Mann. In the midfield of the red, the competition in the Wörl position is not low, and eleven actors from the Breitenreiter squad can theoretically be used in the center. The fact that Wörl could still enforce himself with the experience gained in the Arminia was convinced of TM: “When we signed Marius, he had already played a few games in the 3rd league at 1860, but was so young that he could actually have played for the U19. That’s why it was extremely important for him to get a lot of playing time. At the end of the season he will be with over 80 third division games. We absolutely trust him to take the next step. That is why we will definitely plan it at 96 for the coming season. ”
The Bielefeld’s purchase option was said to be one million euros. DSC Managing Director Sport Michael Mutzel had emphasized at the end of last year: “I will not disclose the content of the contract. Just so much: I categorically exclude that we as a third division will pay for such a transfer fee. ” Wörl himself said in the transfer market interview at the beginning of the week when asked about his future: “Personally, I always want to achieve the maximum and of course also play the highest as much as possible.”
