Menno is known as the discoverer of Claude, who in recent years scored several hits as ‘La da’, ‘Layla’ and ‘Ecoutez-Moi’ as a singer. At the RSG in Enkhuizen he came into contact with the student as a music teacher. “He came in and asked if he could sing a song and then he never left.”
The memories are without prejudice to positive. He picks them up in the Muzieklokaal on the RSG. “He was always cheerful and exuberant. He has that around him. People are happy with him.”
‘C’est La Vie’
One day rather than planned could be heard the song ‘C’est la vie’, with which the singer from Enkhuizen will represent the Netherlands. Master Menno listens carefully. “A nice song,” he says. “Reminds me of ‘La da’. Nice chord diagram. This is a suitable song for the Songfestival. How many points for the Songfestival of course!”
Whether he actually gets it in May is still waiting, but he can already put the approval of ‘Master Menno’ in his pocket.
