Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger is not available to German footballers in the second Nation League game against Austria. As the German Football Association (DFB) announced a few hours before the game on Tuesday (from 6.15 p.m. in the live ticker on Sportschau.de), the 34-year-old left the team quarters from the US club Gotham FC due to a flu infection.

The day before, national coach Christian Wück announced that Stina Johannes (Eintracht Frankfurt) will be between the posts in Nuremberg. Berger had received preference for the National League opening in the Netherlands (2-2) on Friday and “very well done” her task, as Wück subsequently said.

For the second international game in early April, Wück would like to define the hierarchy of goalkeepers for the euro in Switzerland (2nd to 27th July) in the previously open fight for number one. For Johannes (25) it will be the second mission under the new national coach on the evening.

Mahmutovic travels from the U23 national team

Winkler, who is moving from SGS Essen to Ligarival Eintracht Frankfurt for the new season, is considered a great hope for the future. Wück had given her good chances of participating in the European Championship from July 2 to 27 in Switzerland. As another goalkeeper, Frankfurt’s Stina Johannes (25) is still in the squad for the Austrian duel. Olympic heroine Ann-Katrin Berger was allowed to start against the Netherlands (2-2) on Friday.

Mahmutovic travels from the U23 national team from the Portuguese Almancil. The Bayern goalkeeper had moved into the goal in the club because a cancer disease had been diagnosed with the previous tram goalkeeper and DFB candidate Mala Grohs. In the meantime, Grohs has returned to the training ground.
