Bavaria urgently needs a second striker – and Davie Selke is exactly the right man for this role. The thought is simply awesome.
Why? Because Bavaria is not looking for a new superstar, but a player who disconnects with the joker role when Harry Kane is fit. One who is physically robust, strong in the header and, as a penalty area, dangerous. Exactly this profile fulfills Selke. And he would certainly be satisfied with a change to the record champion.
In addition, Selke knows the Bundesliga very well, played over 100 first division games for Hertha, Bremen and Leipzig in his career. Now he meets regularly at HSV – 16 goals in 22 games speak for himself. It is in top shape, either free of charge or for a small replacement and would finally have the chance to play in a real top team.
Bavaria’s alternatives? Müller is not a center forward, Vidovic inexperienced. And there are hardly any options on the transfer market that help immediately and at the same time accept the role as number two behind Kane.
Selke would be a clever, inexpensive transfer that would not cost Bayern bosses a lot of courage, but would cost a lot of sense of pragmatism.
