Joshua Kimmich had to be replaced against Eintracht Frankfurt. FC Bayern has now announced a diagnosis.

Joshua Kimmich from FC Bayern Munich laboratories on a tendon irritation in the left thigh. The club officially announced this on Monday. However, the association did not comment on an exact duration of the central midfielder. The message only says that Kimmich has to “step shorter for the time being”.

The national team captain was replaced in the 43th minute in the 4-0 victory of the Munich against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. Kimmich sat on the floor beforehand and had to be treated. Leon Goretzka came into the game for him. He had felt something in his leg.

Bavaria’s sports director Max Eberl reported after the game: “Jo went into play” before he gave a slight all -clear: “It now looks like nothing worse is muscular.” It remains unclear whether the 30-year-old will be fit for the upcoming Bundesliga game against VfB Stuttgart on Friday.

Bayern are facing pioneering weeks. After the duel against the Swabians, the Munich team goes to the round of 16 of the Champions League. A failure of Kimmich would hit the German record champions in the explosive duel with Bayer Leverkusen particularly hard.

The undisputed midfield leader under coach Vincent Kompany missed no minute of competitive game at Bayern this season until the Frankfurt game. The round of 16 first leg against the Doubles winner takes place on Ash Wednesday. Six days later, Bavaria travels to Leverkusen for the second leg.
