The outskirts of Zundert is plagued by a burglary wave. The burglars sometimes make their way at multiple addresses every day. At Timon Aerts, just outside the village border of Rijsbergen, burglars have even visited twice lately.

“They have brought a rolling scaffolding, a trailer and a lot of hand tools, such as grinding rolls, drilling machines and a welding machine. In total it concerns thousands of euros in things,” Timon tells the shed at the back of his company.

“Nobody sees what they are doing.”

According to him, there is also the problem. “They come through the meadows and nobody sees what they are doing.”

After the first burglary, Timon immediately installed an alarm system, and there will also be cameras soon. “They were back at the end of January. Then I woke up at half past four,” he says.

“On my phone I could see which door had broken open, and the two of us immediately flew there. There was nothing left to see, because the siren had gone off and the big light was on. So the alarm worked. “

“There is far too little surveillance by agents.”

On the same day, the burglars also struck at the neighbors, a few hundred meters away, on the other side of the pasture behind Timon’s dairy farm. “Here they brought a trailer, a garden cutter and tools,” says Peter Sprangers. “They came here because of the pasture, because we saw the traces the next day.”

Peter, a former police officer, does have an idea why the thieves can easily make their way in the outskirts. “There is far too little surveillance by agents, they simply have no time for that.”

“Further on they have stolen money and tools.”

Also with Peters Buurman that day was broken into. “Here all kinds of tools, horse harness and a horse blanket have disappeared,” says Cor Jochems. “I think they have used the strong wind, because then you will hear nothing. Our dog, which always barks when something moves, has not noticed anything.”

Last Wednesday it was again hit in the street of garden center De Bosrand. “Here they have taken a window in different places, but they were probably disturbed by the alarm,” says René Jacobs, manager. “Further down the street they also visited a number of companies. They brought money and tools there.”

The police take the burglary wave seriously and sent the residents of the outlying area the following message: ‘The fact that hard -working Zundert entrepreneurs are constantly disadvantaged by this perpetrator group, touches us in the heart! We therefore do everything we can to gain insight into this perpetrator group, but for that we also need your help! ‘

The police call on everyone in the area to be alert to suspicious persons and vehicles and to immediately report suspicious situations.
