Mikaela Shiffrin succeeds in the 100th World Cup victory today. The American leads 0.09 seconds before the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic in the slalom. In third place is Katharina Liensberger from Austria (+0.34). Lena Dürr still has chances of the podium (+0.61).
Mikaela Shiffrin is back in top form in slalom after her three-month injury break. In the two travel slaloms that were held on the previous days in Sestriere, she experienced a debacle. After 25th place on Friday, she missed the second round on Smastag. At the giant slalom in Killington, she suffered her serious injury, which she put out of action for three months.
But in slalom it is almost quite “the old” – her 100th World Cup is within reach. The 29-year-old managed the almost perfect run: Shiffrin drove brave, looked safe and played with the bars as in the best of time. The reward: first place, nine hundredths ahead of Ljutic. The American only gave her comeback shortly before the World Cup in Courchevel. But it was not enough for a medal in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. “It was a very good run. It was as it should feel. It was wild emotions the last few days. In the giant slalom I lack the power and speed. In slalom it feels more natural. I still did not expect that I am at the front.said Shiffrin in the Sportschau interview.
World champion Rast fails at the penultimate goal
The second run takes place without the world champion Camille Rast. The Swiss woman was very good underwes, drove out of a cast, mastered all hairpins perfectly – and then it happened: racing at the penultimate goal and was disqualified at the finish line.
Dürr has a look at Podest, Aicher on top ten course
Lena Dürr, who drove an excellent second round in the giant slalom the day before with the third best time, was well traveling in her special discipline in the upper part, could keep up with Shiffrin – but on the target slope she lost half a second. “The snow is very slow and sticky today and if you don’t get the swing well, you quickly lose time”, “, said Dürr. The Bavarian is not three tenths of the Bavarian on the podium.
Emma Aicher showed a focused run and is on top ten course (+0.86). “I brought down a solid run. I will definitely attack in the second round – because it is not far forward “there was Aicher combative. Jessica Hilzinger also made it into the final of the top 30 (+1.93). Roni Remme, on the other hand, missed the final run with almost five seconds behind.
