With a co-victory against the Chinese Zhoei Zhang, the German heavyweight boxer Agit Kabayel has secured the interim World Cup title of the WBC association and can hope for a large World Cup fight.
Kabayel won on Saturday (22.02.2025) in the Saudi Arabian Riad by KO in the 6th round. He has thus expanded his professional balance to 26 victories in 26 fights (18 by KO) and, as a competitive challenge of WBC world champion Oleksandr Usyk, who followed the fight in Riad live on the ring.
After a slight start in the 1st round, Kabayel picked up round for a round trip. In the fifth round, the 32-year-old went to the ground himself and had to be counted. But after that he came back strongly, put in trouble in the following round of Zhang and finally decisively to the ground.
For Kabayel, the dream continues to be the first German after Max Schmeling and almost 100 years to win a heavyweight World Cup title.
