After the surprising win of World Cup bronze with the German season, biathlete Johannes Kühn has almost casually announced his plans for a career end after the 2026 Winter Olympics.
“I have been with every major event since 2018, this is my last World Cup, and I get a medal in my last race,” said 33-year-old Johannes Kühn in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
On request, Kühn explained: “My plan goes until Olympics 2026. Plans can change, but now the plan is so.”
According to this, he will end his active career with the winter games in Italy after the 2025/2026 season. “Probably yes,” he said.
Kühn won his first medal in Switzerland at a World Cup and then broke out in tears. The special moment took the elders very emotionally in the German team.
“Sitting here now and celebrating with the boys and the whole team is the biggest thing that I have achieved. I am incredibly proud of it,” said Kühn.
