The suspect was arrested in Obdam, near his hometown. He is not the person whose photo has been shared from a hardware store in Assen. The police are still looking for him.
In addition to the recent arrest, the police made searches in the vicinity of Heerhugowaard. That happened in, among other things, a garage box and a home. Two vehicles, clothing and data carriers were seized during the searches. A house search was also made at a home in Heerhugowaard.
The stolen art treasures from the Drents Museum – three Romanian gold bracelets and a golden helmet – are still searching since the theft at the end of January.
