Norwegian biathletes annoyed by material

In singles, things were modest for the otherwise dominating Norwegians. There was no medal and just a top ten place. Afterwards there was criticism of the equipment.

In biathlon it is a familiar picture that is almost always a Norwegian for men on the podium. Sturla Holm Lægreid leads the overall World Cup ahead of Johannes Thingnes Bø. At the World Championship, too, the latter was able to secure gold in the sprint and persecution twice. Just not on Wednesday. The stars then criticized their material and skis.

Endre Strømsheim, who was the ninth was the best Norwegian, said the public broadcaster NRK: “We have an incredibly good smear team, but I think we have to see that the equipment was not perfect today. The dream of the medal is immediately there. ” Biathlon icon and TV expert Ole Einar Bjørndalen also found during the race at TV2: “I am amazed at the speed of the Norwegians. Something is wrong with their skis. I don’t think everyone here is lost in such a short time have.”

Tobias Dahl Fenre, from the Norwegian wax team, said NRK for equipment on Wednesday: “It was just too bad. It is definitely not at the level we want to deliver.” Fenre emphasized that he wanted to meet the athletes and apologize.

Lægreid explained in relation to the time of the rounds: “Today it was just strange how much we lost per round. You had to shoot 20 hits and the pressure was a little different.” With a view to the single mixed relay on Thursday, record world champion Johannes Thingnes Bø said: “We need better skis if we want to win the season.”
