BOlogna, 19 Feb. (askanews) – “It is paradoxical that those who invoke differentiated autonomy then oppose a national law on the end of life”. This was stated by the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region Michele De Pascale, on the sidelines of the legislative assembly, commenting on the controversies on the first case of assisted suicide in Lombardy.
“The idea that in twenty Italian regions has been forced to study twenty different systems to decide how it is such a complex phase of life is unacceptable -said De Pascale -. “It is a very complex theme, which overlaps very different issues, such as dignity, pain, palliative therapies, living conditions, individual choices, respect for life and disease”.
“All governors are in the same identical condition of having to occupy a space with local tools that is not really of the regions,” added the president. “Emilia-Romagna in the past mandate had adopted a junta resolution, against which there was an appeal to the Tar still pending. Tuscany has made a law. Fontana invokes a law. But it is unacceptable that this theme will not be addressed centrally “.
