Two teenagers shot the Tilburg coffee shop Caza last March. That has been proven, the court believes in Breda. Why they shot has not been clarified. The boys both receive a prison sentence and one of them on top of that youth TBS. The alleged client was also sentenced to prison. This means that one of the attacks on CAZA has been resolved. And another more serious crime that the police tracked down, namely a murder plan. It was actually a by -catch in the study, but the teenagers were also convicted of that.
The court in Breda spoke of a ‘very intimidating threat’. According to the judges, the shooting could have led to victims and this was not the first time.
“This is not an average destruction or threat. That is why a higher punishment follows,” the court chairman said in an empty room, because no suspect was present.
Ball
On Saturday, March 30, 2024, a bullet flew through a window at Caza on the Gasthuisring in Tilburg. It actually had to be three bullets but the firearm faltered. Two boys ran away.
The police were able to trace them because their cell phones radiated a mast in the neighborhood. It concerned Luciano J. from Tilburg for 16 years from Tilburg and Amir B. from Coevorden, now 17 years old.
Video
Amir told at school what he had done. Moreover, the police found his DNA on a bullet sleeve that was left for Caza. The teenagers acquainted in the police interrogation. Amir Schoot, Luciano, made a video of it, probably for the client.
Because they are a minor, their process was recently behind closed doors. Schutter Amir received the toughest punishment: nine months in prison and placement in a youth institution. That is also called youth TBS. Moreover, Amir must also adhere to all kinds of conditions.
Education
The Tilburg suspect Luciano who filmed the shooting was sentenced to 340 days in prison, of which 241 days were suspended as a stick as soon as he goes wrong again for the next three years.
Moreover, he must also perform a learning sentence of 50 hours with attention to influencing. He also receives plenty of compulsory guidance with, among other things, education and family coaching. The Tilburger is reduced imputable due to an intellectual disability.
Friends
A third henchman of 16 years from Spijkenisse received 250 days in jail, of which 150 days conditional. And also a learning sentence and extensive guidance containing the requirement to provide insight into his circle of friends and telephone use. His role was smaller.
They were not the only suspects. There was more behind it. The teenagers had contact with the suspected client through Snapchat: Michael H. in Amsterdam. A 19-year-old who still lives with his grandmother.
Pistol
H. received 2.5 years in prison for provocation of destruction and threat. He would pay 5000 euros to Amir. 2000 of them was for Luciano. But there is never paid. H. would also have supplied and received a gun.
In the mountains with criminal chats, the police came across something completely different: a murder plan.
Scouts
A 23 -year -old man from Arnhem gambled and made large money debts with someone in Utrecht. He asked Amir to get rid of the lender from Utrecht so that he was rid of his debt. The assassins would get 30,000 euros. Luciano from Tilburg would also be involved. They received a photo and address of the ‘Target’ and explored the street and front door.
It never came to a murder because the police intervened in time. The man from Utrecht had to go into hiding and the suspect Benkker of the murder plan was arrested. Until a few minutes before his arrest, he had contact with a stranger he tried to hire for the murder attack. The court sentenced him to six years in prison.
That also applied to the three teenagers. In addition to the attack on CAZA, they were also convicted of the preparations for the murder attack and various other facts such as theft and fraud.
Coffeeshop Caza in Tilburg has been at least ten times target of an attack. Shelling, fire bombs, a hand grenade. This has been playing for almost three years and the series does not seem to come to an end. Security and closures could not prevent more attacks.
As far as we know, people have been arrested for two of those ten attacks. In this case of March 2024. And in January 2025. Then three men were arrested after an attack.
As so often, the suspects seem hired. The real clients stay out of the picture. That is why it remains a mystery why Caza is always targeted. Is it revenge, intimidation or does anyone want to bully the case?
The operator and the local residents are afraid that there will be victims again.
The coffee shop operator must leave the building on the Gasthuisring. The owner of the building canceled the lease contract about a year ago. A judge approved that. Only the appeal on appeal still has to judge this.
