For Hans Koelemij, the choir became more than a temporary hobby. Singing has had a permanent place in his life for 40 years and has also brought him his great love: “I got to know my wife at one of the youth choirs and we have been a member for a long time.”

Hans now goes to the singing evening on his own, after his wife died a few years ago. The other choir members were ready for him during that nasty period, but Hans mainly processed the first sorrow alone. “I pulled back pretty well. That’s how I am put together,” he laughs apologetically.

Singing and being together at the rehearsal was enough support. “It could be such a bad week, if I have been here it is totally great again.”

New members

Conductor Israh Badwy is only recently at the choir, but the members praise. She experiences the group as a club with a nice energy, which also studies at home, so that she can bring the singing together to a higher level every week. The repertoire consists of contemporary pop songs.

To make it sound even more beautiful and fuller, she sees very much like new members come. Especially sopranos, tenors and basses are needed, but they are also happy with Alten. Everyone is actually welcome at the choir.
