With six winners at the top, the German Ski Association (DSV) goes to the Nordic Ski World Cup in Trondheim. The DSV nominated a total of 35 athletes in the ski jumping, cross -country skiing and Nordic combination for the title fights in Norway (February 26 to March 9).
The hopes are resting, especially on the athletes, which has been victorious in previous winter. In ski jumping, these were Pius Paschke, Andreas Wellinger and Katharina Schmid, in the combination of Vinzenz Geiger, Johannes Rydzek and Nathalie Armbruster. In the trail, Victoria Carl had provided second place for the best DSV result of winter.
Experienced actors are wellers and the combiners Rydzek and Manuel Faißt, who take part in a World Cup for the sixth time. Curious: Four of the five nominated combiners start for SC Oberstdorf and could therefore form a “SC fourth” in the season. As expected, the six-time ski jumping world champion Markus Eisenbichler is not included after another disappointing season.
In Trondheim, 25 decisions are on the program in eleven days. Most gold medals are awarded in the cross -country skiing (12), in the ski jump there are seven titles to win, in combination six. There were three gold medals two years ago – Katharina Schmid won in singles, with the women’s team and in mixed.
