In the night from Saturday to Sunday it went completely wrong in the center of the village. A young man would have bothered a girl in a shawarma shop, after which a 24-year-old man took it up for her. They got it together, after which the fight outside was continued. The 24-year-old was stabbed. He was seriously injured and is still in the hospital.

That same night, two men, a 23-year-old Bergenaar and a 17-year-old from Dijk and Waard, were arrested by the police on suspicion of involvement in the stabbing. They are still stuck.

‘Those involved know each other’

A young woman from Bergen says he knows the people involved, she tells NH in the center of the village. She confirms the story of the fight in the shoarma tent. The men know each other and would have had a fight more often. That is why one of the suspects would have brought a knife this time.

Because many of them know the suspected perpetrator and the victim, the news went around like an ongoing fire among the young people in the village, the young woman says.

The news is also a young man has not escaped. He works in Bergen and regularly goes out in the village. “There is sometimes a fight here, but it never really gets out of hand than last weekend. I was shocked when I read it.”

The stabbing is the conversation of the day, he says. “Many customers also talk about it. Everyone is sorry, what happened.”
