Hamburger SV once again left points against a promoted team in the 2nd Bundesliga. The goal of Sargis Adamyan (6th minute) was not enough for a victory of Jahn Regensburg, his regular association 1. FC Köln, the league leader, nevertheless benefited. The HSV was still gained in a point win because Davie Selke converted his second penalty (83.).

The trip to Regensburg may have been a déjà vu experience for the Hamburgers. As in the previous week at the 2-1 at Prussia Münster, the team of coach Merlin Polzin had to become a climber. Again the field was more field than a soccer field. And again she had to run behind at half -time after she had had a hard time in the first 45 minutes.

Regensburg’s Cologne loan Adamyan hits two goals

A player who had double interest in a Jahn victory against HSV was responsible for this. After a counterattack, Adamyan pushed the ball to lead the hosts in the sixth minute. The striker returned to Regensburg just a few weeks ago and is supposed to shoot the club for relegation.

With the goal, however, he not only increased the prospects for it, but also that on the rise of 1. FC Köln. The club, in which Adamyan is actually under contract. If this goal at the end of the season has a decisive contribution to the fact that Cologne rises in front of the HSV, the 31-year-old abroad would have ensured that he would be Bundesliga players again in the coming season if he returned.

Space and Regensburg fighter spirit cause HSV problems

With a win, the HSV wanted to displace Cologne from the top of the table, but the task turned out to be extremely demanding due to several adversities. Of course, the constant ball-loop was harmful to the Hamburg team, which is clearly superior to football, and the Jahn fought sacrificially.

Best examples: Louis Breunig was just successful in a shot from Jean-Luc Dompé (27th), shortly before the break, several Regensburg Ransford Königsdörffer, which had already been on the ground, took the chance to achieve the equalization from four meters (42nd) .

Hamburg’s Selke lets Penalty lay

Shortly after the break there was another parallel to the Münster game. The HSV again got an extremely flattering penalty after Dompé had dropped after a maximum of minimal touch by Christian Kühlwetter. Davie Selke then shot Hamburg to victory in Münster, but in this case the scenery differed. Because Selke started again, but shot so weak that Felix Gebhardt could easily parry (54.).

In the past seasons, the failed games against the promoters have already been the tongue on the scales when the Hamburg attempts to promote promotion – and now the next slip was more and more threatened. Instead of the jump to the top, there was now a lot of indication that the Polzin team first has to stay in third place. Meanwhile, Regensburg was working to shorten the gap to relegation place 16 to three points.

Hamburg still comes back in outnumber

In the penalty kick, Regensburg had felt the whole hardness of referee Lars Erbst, then the HSV was the victim. At first Emir Sahiti got yellow due to a supposed swallow (he was already hit on the shoulder), just a few moments later the Hamburg outer striker had to get off the square with yellow-red because he had complained about a throw-in decision (76.).

Hamburg still had to pack the turn in outnumber – and got the great chance again with a penalty. In this case, Daniel Elfadli was clearly fouled by Rasim Bulic and Selke started again. And this time the striker kept his nerve and pushed the ball flat almost in the middle to 1: 1 (83.). It was not enough for more, but at least Hamburg returned to second place due to the point win. Regensburg remains last with five points behind in 16th place.

“Basically we go to every game to win it, so we did not quite fulfill the order. But we have come back and take the point with us – that is what counts in the end”said Polzin in the sports show interview.
