Fortuna Düsseldorf celebrated an important victory in the promotion struggle of the 2nd Bundesliga – Hertha BSC reacted angrily to the creation of a goal and was annoyed.
Due to the 2: 1 (0: 1), Düsseldorf is a fifth fifth in the promotion battle with good chances. Hertha BSC has to keep an eye on the relegation zone at least with a five -point lead in 16th place. Fabian Reese (13th) had given Hertha BSC in the lead, Dženan Pejčinović turned the game with a double pack (55./58.).
Hertha player on the ground, Fortuna meets
Especially the gate to 1-1 caused explosive. While Düsseldorf cheered Pejčinović, the Hertha players complained massively with referee Tobias Reichel from Sindelfingen.
That had happened: Hertha’s player Michael Cuisance was clearly fouled in midfield by Düseldorf’s Jamil Siebert. But a promising situation emerged for the Hertha, the Berliners played on the goal, but Fortuna goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier caught the ball – and initiated the return that led to the goal. Cuisance stood up again during the counterattack, but could no longer intervene decisively.

Tor counts, subsequently yellow for the foul
Despite the protests, referee Reichel took the goal. Consequently, because in the regulations it says that the referee continues to run the game, “Until the ball is out of the game when a player is only slightly injured”. Cuisance was obviously only slightly injured for Reichel, only with the goal was the ball “out of the game”. For the foul, Reichel showed the yellow card to the Düsseldorf Siebert after the goal.
Morally, the question arises whether the Düsseldorfers should have played the ball. Hertha Sports Director Benjamin Weber formulated a corresponding expectation at Sky: “I think we all saw the reaction on the square and on the bench. It was very, very unhappy.” Goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck said he was “would have hoped”but cleared up: “We have to get more upset about ourselves.” The Hertha players hadn’t played the ball before. No player is obliged to do this by the rules when another player is on the floor. “The referee is responsible”said Düsseldorf’s goalkeeper Kastenmeier.
In addition, for example, UEFA repeatedly pointed out that players are not responsible for interruptions in the game – but the referee. Playing the ball into the end can generally be an instrument for time game in the final phase of games if you play the ball into the end and, according to the unwritten rule, also get back.

Hertha with the better start – and now before the coaching question
Hertha quickly developed pressure on Düsseldorf, which was promptly rewarded. A blocked shot landed at Reese on the left, he lay on the ball on the right foot and shot the ball into the right corner (13th). Reese came to the end a little later, but failed due to Düsseldorf’s goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier. In the 35th minute, Hertha was on the way to 2-0. A pass was still missing, but Düsseldorf’s Jona Niemiec prevented the pass from Cuisance to Ibrahim Maza (35th).
Düsseldorf turns the game after the break. The Fortuna quickly followed the 1-1 drawing goal: Pejčinović lurked second post in a free kick on the second post and pushed the ball into the left (58th). Hertha still had excellent opportunities to 2: 2. But Reese shot Volley over it (65th), Maza failed with a header to goalkeeper Kastenmeier (81st) and Luca Schuler headed on the post (83.).
For Hertha, the coaching question continues. Coach Christian Fiél has now collected four defeats in a row. “I don’t know what criticism I should practice about the boys today,” says Fiél at Sky.
