Three boys aged sixteen and two of eighteen at the end of 2023 and last year have terrorized their hometowns Bladel, Hapert and Reusel. They kicked, hit and robbed random fellow villagers on the street. One of the victims sustained bruises and a concussion, among other things. The court in Den Bosch imposed the youthful perpetrators prison and community service sentences on Friday.
The vast majority of violence were made spread over last year. In February 2024, for example, a woman and her son had to believe it. Both were kicked in the center of Reusel, beaten and pushed in their faces. The woman was a concussion, broken fingers, bruised ribs, a bruised chest and various bruises.
Later that year, someone was hit in his car in Hapert and forced to pin 200 euros and to hand it over. Then the perpetrators drove away with the car and the victim was again abused on the way. Someone else was robbed of her bag in the same village and then chased with a knife. Two other unsuspecting villagers were kicked and beaten in Hapert.
‘Injustice and suffering’
The five minors from Bladel, Hapert and Reusel recently, in separate sessions, were before the court in Den Bosch. According to the judge, they have done many people wrong and suffered. This is reflected in the statements made on Friday. All five boys receive a community service sentence of 40 to 160 hours. Four of them has also been imposed an (im) conditional juvenile detention. All must pay compensation.
One of the two 18-year-olds came off with a 40-hour community service. As a stick behind the door, for example, he has to cooperate in providing assistance through the youth rehabilitation. If he laps conditions imposed by the court, on his boot, a 60 -hour community service is waiting for him.
In a number of cases it has been taken into account that the perpetrator had not come into contact with the judiciary before and after serving the custody has behaved neatly. It also argued to his advantage that the boy has shown repentance and understood what he did. Furthermore, the risk of recurrence is considered small.
‘Greater chance of recurrence’
For a number of other stakeholders, the chance of a recidivism is considered greater, which can be read in the judicial judgment. One of the 16-year-olds is punished the most. This kid must perform a 160 -hour work sentence and pay more than 2,700 euros in compensation.
He will also go into the youth prison for two months and hangs him for another eight months of juvenile detention when he does not adhere to a number of conditions. This includes:
- Wearing an ankle strap
- Reporting obligation for youth rehabilitation
- Following education or deploying for daytime activities and/or work
- Contributing to an analysis by GGZE
- Contributing to conversations with Jaafar (Youth) Coaching
- Contact ban with three co -suspects
