Jos van Herk (56) from Nuenen has taken out a special action for Valentine’s Day. He cycled a route in the form of a heart around Eindhoven sixteen times, good for five hundred kilometers. “That’s how I have a nice change in my training sessions.”
The cyclist decided at the end of December to do something fun for Valentine’s Day. He drew a number of routes at home at SportApp Strava in the form of a heart. For example, he made a big heart with two small hearts in it, a heart with wings and the word ‘love’. “Depending on how the roads run, you can make all kinds of figures,” Jos explains.
“I made sixteen different routes and cycled at least every weekend.” In total, Jos spent twenty hours on the bike. The result: a video with moving hearts around Eindhoven. “Normally I cycle from A to B or make a round, but I wanted to do something else. Especially now that it’s so cold. Then I have a nice change for my long training sessions.”

This is not the first time that Jos cycled special figures. Last summer he cycled an orange lion on the map, especially for the Dutch national team that played the European Football Championship. “I have also made a route in the form of an elephant or an angel. It is just how creative you are when drawing the routes,” says Jos.

Several Chinooks from Defense have also been creative this Friday morning in the context of Valentine’s Day. For example, a military helicopter from Gilze-Rijen Air Base on the way to Eindhoven flew a route in the form of a heart. And also above Hilvarenbeek another Chinook made a heart.

Cycling or running routes in a special form is more often done by fanatics. For example, John from Rucphen cycled a Christmas tree three years ago, especially for the holidays. Runner Maron went a little further. He ran fast through all the streets of his hometown Waalre.
