This is at least a huge finger in the direction of a very big career! Austria’s skiing talent Stephan Embacher voted junior world champion in Lake Placid on Thursday night in Lake Placid. The ÖSV-Youngster thus defended his title from the previous year and changes in the footsteps of an absolute legend. The DSV starters, on the other hand, are more of a debacle.

The Tyrolean Stephan Embacher has successfully defended his title as a junior world champion since the legendary Finn Janne Ahonen. The 19-year-old won the title in the USA in front of local hero Tate Frantz, third with Simon Steinberger was another ÖSV eagle.

The decision was made in a true thriller: after the first round, Frantz led 0.3 points ahead of Embacher, who was able to tear the helm around with the second jump. Although Frantz jumped 2.5 meters away, but got deductions for the good wind conditions, it was less favorable at Embacher, which even gave the Austrian additional counter. Ultimately, 0.4 points decided in favor of Embacher.

The German participants Alex Reiter (13th), Max Unbisten (15th), Robin Kloss (16th) and Yann Kullmann (25th) could not even intervene in the fight for the medals. The last precious metal for the DSV won Adrian Tittel 2024 in Planica, the last title won David Siegel 2016 in Rasnov.

Austria’s ski jumping juniors have been dominant for five years

However, the Austrian colors have been dominating since 2020: nine of the 18 medals since then missed to jumpers of the Alpine Republic.

Before that, only the five-time four-hill tour winner from Finland had achieved two World Cup titles in a row in 1993 and 1994.

For women, the Norwegian Ingvild Synnöve won midskogen in front of her compatriot Ingrid Laate and Taja Bodlaj from Slovenia. Kim Amy Duschek narrowly missed the podium as fifth, Julina Kreibich Entered the top ten as a ninth.
