Gold and bronze at the start: The Deutsche Bahnrad national team has made a start to measure at the European Championships in Heusden-Zolder in Belgium.

Tim Torn Teutenberg crowned himself for the second time on Wednesday (12.02.2025) for the champion in excretion, shortly afterwards Lea Sophie Friedrich, Pauline Grabosch and Clara Schneider celebrated the bronze medal in the team sprint of women.

Poland struck in the fight for third place

The 22-year-old Teutenberg triumphed ahead of Portugal’s Rui Filipe Alves Oliveira and local hero Jules Hester. Teutenberg had already brought gold in this discipline in 2023, at that time in Grenchen/Switzerland.

The team sprinters and repeated world champions Grabosch and Friedrich have recently returned to the Olympic bronze after their break. In the fight for third place, German Cycling’s athletes celebrated promptly. Emma Hinze, who continued to pause with Grabosch and Friedrich after Olympic bronze.

Team sprint men without an opportunity

Previously, Nik Schroter, Luca Spiegel and Maximilian Dornbach were in the team sprint without chance of a medal. After successful qualifications, they lost to France in the first round. Teutenberg’s sister Lea Lin three years older also went to 15th place in the scratch – a mass start. In 2024 she had become Vice-European champion in the elimination.

German women in team persecution promising

In the team tracking of the women, Franziska Brauße (Eningen), Mieke Kröger (Hürth), Lisa Klein (Oberried) and Laura Süßemilch (Tolle Rute) drove the fastest time in 4: 14.994 minutes just before defending champion. In the first round, the German Quartet, which includes three Olympic champions from 2021, meets Switzerland on Thursday. The winner drives for the gold medal.

In the team tracking men, German cycling did without a start after an accident of several drivers in the training camp in Mallorca at the end of January.
