The livestock sheds in the Schoonebeek area disappeared from the picture. They were demolished or converted into a farm. Over the years, only two remained: De Hekmans Boo and the Wilms Boo.

The latter became destroyed by a fire in 2008. A year later rebuilding followed, but is therefore no longer original.

The Hekmans Boo stood at the Pandijk in Schoonebeek until the 1950s. De Boo was in a poor state and the municipality of Schoonebeek wanted to demolish the building. However, the province intervened and had the Boo dismantled and stored at Volkshogeschool Overcinge in Havelte.

Almost a quarter of a century later, Schoonebeek bought the building back and had it rebuilt in the village in the 1970s. However, De Boo had to give way again due to new construction plans.

Dairy farm De Katshaar bought the Boo for four quarters and placed the Boo on their site. De Boo got a new role as reception and petting zoo.

There too, the Boo fell into disuse at some point and the spiker bought the old barn. “We were allowed to have him for the then sales amount: four quarters,” laughs Henry requirements. “If all goes well there is another photo and the four coins in their office.”
