Nynke also longs for the time that she could still go to work by bus. “It also fell out and was also in a traffic jam, but then I came to work on time more often. The benefit of the bus: if bus 347 drops out, then in 10 minutes line 348 drove. If the tram cannot continue, Can the next one cannot get through. “
Petra van Leeuwen from Gemeentebelangen Uithoorn – De Kwakel is on behalf of the city council in the Regional Council of the Amsterdam Transport Region. She says she has raised the problem there before. “In particular, the lack of communication in the event of the tram failure. Travelers are not well informed.”
Politics is busy
An urgent call also went to the GVB from the aldermen consultation to solve the problem with the tram. “As a municipality, we are worried (…) Uithoornse Public Transport is tailored to the tram. In Amsterdam you have other options, but Uithoorn residents have fewer options if the tram does not drive,” says a spokesperson for traffic law holder Jan Hazen .
The many disruptions of tram 25 do not only affect Uithoornaars. City councilor of the Amstelveen GroenLinks group Gert Jan Slump regularly acts as a sounding board for Amstelveners who get into trouble due to tram disturbances.
“Time and again there is a drop -off, delay and ghost trams [red. trams die op de borden staan aangekondigd, maar vervolgens niet komen] And there is a lot of complaining about broken lifts, “he summarizes the complaints of complaints.
Take action faster
He already raised the problem with the mayor and aldermen of Amstelveen. This ultimately led to an improvement plan of the Amsterdam Transport Region and the GVB that must be realized at the end of June. That takes Slump and council members from five other Amstelveen parties too long. That is why they now ask the GVB to take action in the short term.
Among other things, they ask for specific figures about the number of malfunctions and the extent to which tram 25 arrives on time. In addition, they want travelers to be offered an alternative in the short term. “You can’t say: well, sorry nothing drives. Put buses in, make something up,” says Slump.
Response GVB
The pressure towards the GVB is therefore being increased considerably. A spokesperson for the transport company informs NH when asked that start -up problems are normal for a new tram line and “the percentage outages of line 25 do not differ much from other lines within Amsterdam, but the impact of failure is felt more.”
That is because Amsterdammers have more public transport options than Uithoornaars and Amstelveners. “If something happens on line 25, which means that the tram cannot continue, there are only shortages possible and no diversions such as that in the city is possible.”
According to the spokesperson, the malfunctions are partly due to vulnerable parts in the tram equipment of line 25. GVB has asked the supplier to adjust the clutch cables and sockets. That must have happened around the summer.
As a second cause, the GVB gives the staff shortage. Society is short of both administrators and technical staff. “Other things also cause malfunctions, such as incidents in the event of crossing places or power outages. (…) Together with the supplier of the Nutrition Station, we are looking for solutions to remedy power outages.”
