The 1st FC Nürnberg surprisingly separated from sports director Olaf Rebbe. The 46-year-old had recently provided a historical transfer winter together with sports director Joti Chatzialexiou.

The 1st FC Nürnberg and sports director Olaf Rebbe will go separate paths in the future. The 46-year-old is left out with immediate effect, the second division soccer team announced on Tuesday on his website.

“After the end of the latest transfer phase, there have been different views of the future orientation of the 1. FC Nürnberg,” explains Nuremberg’s sports director Joti Chatzialexiou.

Rebbe successor still open

The FCN stays “fully capable of action” and will “inform about a succession plan in due course,” it said in the message. Due to the short term of the measure, concrete names have not yet been traded.

Rebbe switched to the club in March 2021. Since then he has been responsible for the license area and the scouting department at the FCN. In terms of content, among other things, all transfers were responsible. In the winter transfer window, he had caused a sensation together with Chatzialexiou and caused the most successful transfer phase in club history through clever sales (including Stefanos Tzimas, Jens Castrop, Finn Jeltsch).

Fcn can be gilded talent

U17 world champion Finn Jeltsch was sold to VfB Stuttgart to the Bundesliga for almost ten million euros. Striker Stefanos Tzimas only works in summer. The Greek borrowed by Paok Saloniki moves to Fabian Hürzelers Brighton & Hove Albion to England and costs an incredible 25 million euros. In the end, the club remains a single -digit million sum because he had to pull the purchase option over 18 million euros beforehand.

In the summer, midfielder Jens Castrop also leaves FCN for around 4.5 million euros for Borussia Mönchengladbach. For this, the Franconia Fabio Gruber (SC Verl), Eryk Grzywacz (VfL Wolfsburg), Janis Anteste (Sassuolo Calcio) and already Tim Drexler (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim) won in January.
