The German Ski Team remains without a medal at the World Cup. In the team combination, however, it looked very different until shortly before the end.
Much more bad luck is not possible: the German ski racers once again missed a medal at the World Cup team competition in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria.
After the two German teams were still in second and five after the first round, both Lena Dürr (together with Emma Aicher) and Jessica Hilzinger (together with Kira Weidle-Winkelmann) plunged in the final slalom and robbed themselves of any podium opportunities .
The first world champions in the new discipline became the US stars Breezy Johnson and Mikaela Shiffrin. The two were 0.39 seconds ahead of the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami and Wendy Holdener. Bronze went to the Austrians Stephanie Venier and Katharina troop.
Actually, Aicher had presented well for a medal in the morning: the 21-year-old showed a strong journey and landed in second place with 0.23 seconds behind Lauren Macuga from the USA.
So Dürr went into the crucial goal run with this gap, where she was in the lead for a long time, but then slipped away shortly before the finish and almost failed. She saves herself, but then had more than four seconds behind. Compared to the second German team, which did not reach the finish, this was enough for 17th place.
This means that the team of the German Ski Association is still without a medal at the World Cup. This Wednesday (from 10 a.m. in the LiveTicker from T-Online) is the team combination of the men. After weak speed races, the DSV is only sending a team consisting of veteran Romed Baumann and Slalom-Ace Linus Straßer.
