About Gault & Millau
The restaurant guide of Gault & Millau can be compared with the Michelinids. With an important difference: restaurants at Gault & Millau are symbolically crowned with chef’s hats instead of stars. How many chef’s hats a restaurant gets depends on a number of factors. For example, the taste of the dishes is of course important, but also the reception, advice for wine, atmosphere and much more.
A total of 866 restaurants in the Netherlands achieved the list this year, with 111 newcomers. The printed guide contains 70 restaurants with a score of 16 chef’s hats or more.
Eighteen categories
In addition to the guide, there is also a list of honor of eighteen categories. Here you will find restaurants or catering people that excel in something. For example, the prices go to the wine list of the year, best cocktail bar, but there is also the price-pleasure price and craftsman of the year.
