In 2070 the population in Flanders would have grown to 8 million inhabitants, compared to 6.8 million in 2024. Belgium would have 12.9 million inhabitants within 45 years and the population in Wallonia and Brussels would then remain virtually stable. This is evident from the new population prospects that the Planning Bureau prepared in collaboration with Statist Statbel statistics service.
