With the initiative “Small packages, beautiful gesture”, the Wäschemarke Mey, together with its customers, set an impressive sign of solidarity. In 30 stores of the Mey group of companies, special laundry packages were offered throughout Germany, the content of which was done by homeless people on site.

In the Mey Stores, Mey Outlet Stores and Mes Amis Stores by Mey, customers from three carefully compiled laundry packages were able to select: “Dignity”, “well -being” and “warmth”. These packages not only stood for their content, but also represented the values that the campaign wanted to convey. “Dignity” symbolizes respect and recognition, “well -being” stands for the need for a touch of comfort and security, and “warmth” includes physical warmth as well as security and compassion. The customers supported the campaign not only by selecting these packages, but also financially by taking over half of the costs. The Mey group of companies financed the remaining amount.

A total of 544 donation packages with high -quality laundry were compiled across Germany, for which Mey is known. The packages with a total value of around 40,000 euros went to regional aid organizations to specifically and effectively support homeless people on site. When choosing the organizations, special emphasis was important to take into account facilities that are easily accessible to the donation recipients. Examples of this are the shower bus for people on the street of Gobanyo gGmbH in Hamburg, the Kaltbus & Physic Mobil of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe eV in Bremen and the Jakobushaus of the Caritas Schwarzwald-Alb-Donau in Balingen.

Since used underwear cannot normally be donated for hygienic reasons and new articles are often unaffordable for many aid organizations, this form of help is particularly valuable. Karin Stelljes, team leader of the Kaltbus & doctor’s mobile at the Johanniter-Accident Hilfe eV in Bremen, emphasizes: “Underwear may be a natural everyday object for many, but it is often a luxury for people in difficult situations. However, hygiene and clean clothing are essential to not only promote physical well -being, but also to return a piece and self -esteem. I think this project is so important because it provides direct and valuable help for the well -being of the people who need it most. ”

Thanks to this initiative, Mey, together with their customers, was able to make a sustainable contribution to noticeably improve the life of needy people. The “Small packages, beautiful gesture” campaign impressively illustrates how a powerful sign of solidarity could be set.
