On his first test drives for the Scuderia Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton was by no means bad, sometimes even faster than team -mate Charles Leclerc. According to a media report, this is also related to his Mercedes past.
Nothing has been in Maranello since January 22nd. On this day, Lewis Hamilton spent his first kilometers in a Ferrari on the Scuderia house in Fiorano.
Further test drives in Barcelona followed, in which the 40 -year -old – apart from an accident – did anything but bad. On the contrary: In the previous year’s ferrari SF-24, he was even faster than team-mate and Scuderia-Platzhirsch Charles Leclerc at the Pirelli-Reifent tests this week.
Even though Leclerc was able to restore the ranking on the last day of the test, an impression remains: Hamilton will not need a big time to get used to the red from Maranello.
Apparently, this is also related to his past at Mercedes.
Report: Lewis Hamilton already “in Ferrari form”
The previous year’s models of the Scuderia, which has so far been able to test the seven-time F1 champion, seem to be much better than the racing cars that were made available to him in the silver arrows in the past seasons. At least the Italian sports newspaper “La Gazzetta Dello Sport” is firmly based on this.
Hamilton would have found his way better with the Ferrari cars “immediately” than with the last car he had to drive at Mercedes last, and was referring to impressions that were created in the course of the latest test drives.
Even at the wheel of the SF-23, which is considered “difficult”, the Englishman had a good feeling straight away, it said. He is already “in Ferrari form”. In fact, in recent years, Hamilton had repeatedly complained – not infrequently via the pit radio – about the handling of the Mercedes racers, with which his ex -teammate George Russell got along much better.
This remains open to two questions. A first answer to the question of how quickly Hamilton will be on the 2025 Ferrari will be the official test drives in Bahrain at the end of the month (February 26th to 28th, Sport.de reports on the three days and all six sessions in detail -Ticker).
The question of what Hamilton would have torn as a Ferrari master driver in 2022 to 2024 remains a speculative …
