Then the track has a small hump, after which it is gently curved to the right and rises to about 23 meters above sea level.
Järvelä derailed at the kummy out of the track to the right. He first hit an orange safety net next to the track.
It did not stop the pace of the Jyväskylä resident, but he collided with a padded electrical cabinet a couple of meters away from the safety net and drifted into a staple. About a meter from the padded electrical cabinet, there is a padded concrete ring.
The track at the scene of the accident is also a bit challenging for skiers on traditional skis, but there is no particularly difficult or dangerous terrain.

The electrical cabinet next to the track was padded properly. In ski competitions, it is customary that the landscapes adjacent to the track, usually trees or lantern poles, are padded.
After the Järvelä accident site, the Hakunila race track continues with a straight and about 200 meters to about 2,450 meters. It is about 15 meters above sea level.
The last 150 meters on the track are going through this: a small rise and then we are at the stadium.
In Järvelä’s leg, the tip skied one 2.6 kilometer round in about 7 minutes and 40 seconds.

Vuokatti Ski Team Kainuu’s 21-year-old skier was transported from the accident site to the Hakunila Ski Stadium in the snowmobile carriage.
He was conscious and moved all his limbs.
The ambulance arrived at the ski stadium and transported Järvelä to Meilahti Hospital.
