Roelof Bisschop immediately steps up as alderman in Hoogeveen. The VVD member says that a difference of opinion with his own group has become too large to continue.
“For me it is time to stop as alderman Van Hoogeveen,” writes Bisschop in a statement. “Management requires integrity and connection, and although I have done that with full conviction, I notice that the differences of insight with my group have become too great to continue effectively. It was an honor to be allowed to serve the residents of Hoogeveen . “
VVD party chairman Ronald Klok does not want to say too much about the departure of Bisschop. “We are now going to think about the future and must also talk about this with the group.” Clock does not respond to the difference of insight that Bisschop is talking about. The departing alderman himself also does not want to elaborate on the situation.
In the coming weeks, the VVD must consider who will be put forward as a new alderman. Bisschop was busy with his first term as an alderman, before that he was a councilor. He had sports, traffic and transport and spatial planning in his portfolio, among other things. Together with Derk Reneman (partyless), Jeroen Westendorp (ChristenUnie), Niek Wind (Gemeentebelangen) and Mark Tuit (PvdA), Bisschop formed the alderman’s team.
It is the third change in the daily management of the municipality of Hoogeveen. Mayor Karel Loohuis was replaced by Martijn Breukelman. Jan Zwiers became mayor of Midden-Drenthe and was replaced by Niek Wind.
