Agricultural mechanization company Groenoord today applied for the bankruptcy. With nineteen branches, the company is one of the largest mechanization companies in the country. The company is also the largest John Deere dealer in the Northern Netherlands.
In Drenthe are branches in Dalen and Smilde.
Groenoord suffered loss in 2024, due to high IT costs, high interest charges and rapidly increasing personnel costs. “In addition, due to the current market conditions and severe competition, Groenoord has not been able to pass on the higher costs to its customers.”
“Saving measures used have been insufficient to turn the tide,” says the website of the company. The company also expects a considerable loss for this year. “That is why there is no prospect of continuing the business activities in the current form.” Groenoord expects the curator to investigate whether a restart is possible.
