The Federal Court of the Association on February 28, on the appeal against the judgment of the DFB sports court in the lighter scandal game between Union Berlin and VfL Bochum.

The German Football Association said that the appeals of Union, Holstein Kiel and FC St. Pauli are being negotiated orally. The three Bundesliga clubs follow the judgment of the sports court. The game, which was originally 1-1 last December, had rated this 2-0 for Bochum in January.

Bochum saw it weakened after goalkeeper Patrick Drewes was hit by a lighter from the Berlin fan block on the head in added time. He could not continue playing and had to be replaced by field player Philipp Hofmann because the VfL change quota was exhausted.

Effects on relegation battle

Union had announced an appeal immediately after the judgment. Kiel and St. Pauli joined. The two clubs were indirectly affected in the relegation battle, the bottom of the table Bochum would receive all three points at the green table instead of one point from the Union game.

The meeting heads Oskar Riedmeyer, the chairman of the DFB Federal Court. Arno Heger and ex-professional Carsten Ramelow act as an assessor. The Federal Supreme Court is the last instance within the DFB. An additional appeal would be possible before the constant neutral arbitration court for clubs and corporations.
