Great honor for darts world champion Luke Littler. A club in his homeland names the stadium after the 18-year-old.
Luke Littler is one of the largest teen sensations in the sports world. In January he crowned himself the youngest world champion of all time.
In honor of the darts star, the Warrington Wolves call their rugby stadium in Luke Littler Stadium. However, only for one evening.
On February 21, the Warrington Warrington Rugby team will meet the Catalan’s Dragons at the start of the season. The Halliwell Jones Stadium is then called Luke Littler Stadium for this game. The arena holds 15,200 spectators.
Littler has been a fan of the club since the child’s legs and has a season ticket on the stands. He will be invited as a guest of honor on the match day. “The Nuke” will also lead the team to the field and present its World Cup title to fans during the half-time break.
“It is a dream that the club, whose fan I have been since my youth, has decided to name the stadium for one night after me!” Said Littler.
Darts star overjoyed: “I can’t thank the club enough”
“It is an absolute honor and I can’t thank the club enough,” he said
Wolves boss Karl Fitzpatrick said the background: “Luke’s achievements on the world stage are simply incredible, and we are very proud to celebrate his success with this special return.”
Littler is a “real Warrington fan”, so the “renaming our stadium is a suitable tribute to his honor in our home game.”
“We invite the whole city to join February 21st and spend a memorable evening. A big thank you to Halliwell Jones and the Warrington City Council for their support in realizing this project.”
The Wolves play in the Super League, in which ten English team and a French and Canadian compete.
