The German ski icon Felix Neureuther often had to take a lot of risk during his active career. Once he surpassed it, however, the 40 -year -old – and was even in mortal danger.

Felix Neureuther’s dangerous adventure took place as part of the Alpine World Cup in Yuzawa Naeba in Japanese in 2016.

According to Neureuther, it had snowed so violently that the cars could no longer be seen in the parking lot. This led him to a plenty of crazy idea.

“I met Alexis Pinturault at breakfast and said to him that we have to go deep snow. One and a half meter of fresh snow, that’s insane,” said today’s TV expert.

Pinturault agreed to the idea and the two made their way. “The first departure was incredible. The snow was very soft and flew over your head. On the second departure, the slopes was like new again. You had a fresh slope every time,” said Neureuther.

However, at some point it was no longer enough for the two of them, which is why they decided to continue the mountain with the lift, the former ski racing driver described. Once there, they saw a shut -off strap that pointed out at the risk of avalanche. “We were stupid as we were, we drove down anyway. Alexis was the first and suddenly the slope broke away. He was very lucky and was just able to hold on to a bush,” said Neureuther.

Ski Alpin: Neureuther and Pinturault “Fixed”

“Then we stood around 30 meters below the barrier tape, but we had no chance of going back. The snow was far too deep. So we drove down and tried to get back on the slopes,” he said.

The path led the two ski stars through a forest in which there was also very deep snow. So the return to the hotel took three hours. Accordingly, they were “ready” when they arrived at the hotel again, reported Neureuther.

Apparently not harmed the duo, because: Pinturault was able to win the giant slalom a day after the wild ski tour, Neureuther was then successful in slalom.

Nevertheless, he urgently advised to make up the adventure: “Please don’t be so stupid! I would never do it again today. Even if it was a special experience.”
