Called in 2024 Aerosmith that they would officially withdraw from the tour business after Steven Tyler had suffered significant damage to his vocal cords. But only one good reason for the musician to return to the stage. At the weekend, Tyler organized his foundation Janie’s Fund A Grammy watch party in the Hollywood Palladium. At the end of the evening, he performed with six songs with the support of some special guests.
After appearances by Linda Perry, Marcus King, Billy Idol, Steve Stevens and Joan Jett, Tyler opened his set with Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme, who worked for every song. They sang “More Than Words” with Mick Fleetwood and “Dream on” with Lainey Wilson. Tom Hamilton from Aerosmith And Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes accompanied Tyler and Bettencourt at “Sweet Emotion”, “Walk This Way” with Jessie J and “Heartbreaker”. The couple also sang “Toys in the Attic”.
The proceeds from the Janie’s Fund event benefit young women who have experienced abuse and neglect, as well as the victims of the recent forest fires in Los Angeles. The non -profit organization works with the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and that Widows, Orphans & Disables Firefighter’s Fund together.
“I am somewhere between 7 and 9 on the hope scale”
Last year, Hamilton expressed his hope that Aerosmith could find a way to continue to appear, albeit on a small scale. “I’m somewhere between 7 and 9 on the hope scale,” he said Aarp. ‘From now on we will no longer do any tours, but I will always have the hope that other options will arise. ”
Aerosmith announced the end of her tour career in August 2024 and thus shortened theirs Farewell tour. “As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other,” wrote the band in a joint explanation. “He worked tirelessly for months to bring his voice back to the level that she had before his injury. We saw how he fought at his side despite the best medical team. Unfortunately, it is clear that a complete recovery from his voice injury is not possible. As a band of brothers, we made a heartbreaking and difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the tour stage. ”
