The northeast of the province receives 25 million from the government for stimulating a circular economy, binding young talent and a healthy living environment. Minister Mona Keijzer (BBB) of Spatial Planning reports this to the House of Representatives. The money comes from the so -called region of deals.

The purpose of the region deals is to be able to tackle difficult tasks better. For example, the money is used to:

  • to increase the quality of life in an area,
  • to make training better match the labor market,
  • buildings and business parks make it more sustainable.

According to the minister, the northeast of the province needs the money, because ‘the good life’ that the region knows thanks to agriculture, family businesses and SMEs has ‘has challenges and gets cracks in the foundation’. The region wants to tackle those challenges together with the province, companies and knowledge institutions in the region.
