The Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo Spa has to look for a new boss.
On Monday evening, the company announced that CEO Marco Gobbetti had agreed “in mutual consent” to the premature termination of his employment relationship. Gobbetti’s contract was only extended until the end of 2026 last year.
Gobbetti will give up his post, which he has been wearing since the beginning of 2022, on March 6 and at the same time retire from the Board of Directors, according to a message. After that, Chairman Leonardo Ferragamo, together with a specially furnished body, will temporarily run the business until Gobbetti’s successor is found. According to the company, the search for suitable candidate was already included: inside for the CEO post.
Gobbetti had already led the Burberry, Moschino, Givenchy and Céline fashion houses
“I would like to thank Marco Gobbetti, who has developed and implemented important measures to renew and further develop the brand in recent years,” said Chairman Leonardo Ferragamo in a statement. The outgoing top manager also initiated important innovations in product development and brand positioning as well as organizational reforms in the company. With this, Gobbetti laid “the basis for the continued renewal strategy” of the shoe and leather goods specialist, emphasized Leonardo Ferragamo.
Before moving to Ferragamo, Gobbetti headed the British fashion group Burberry Group PLC as CEO from 2017 to 2021. Before that, he had led the fashion houses Moschino, Givenchy and Celine.
