After an involuntary Slapstick insert, Eintracht Frankfurt saved a point in the Bundesliga in the Bundesliga.
The Hesse came to a 1-1 (0: 0) against VfL Wolfsburg through a late goal from Can Uzun in the 81st minute. Frankfurt’s Tuta had taken care of the Wolfsburg leadership in front of 56,900 spectators (50th). This was preceded by an disagreement between the defender and goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
Eintracht remained in the third competitive game in a row without a win and missed the lead to fourth place in front of a home backdrop.
“We didn’t bring what we wanted, the intensity was not right,” said Eintracht defender Arthur Theat at “DAZN”: “After all, we showed character in the final phase, you can take that today.”
At the moment, the third in Frankfurt are five points ahead of RB Leipzig. VfL, in turn, could have jumped in sixth place. So the Lower Saxony are only tenth, but still have all chances of a European cup qualification.
Eintracht announces permanent commitment before the game
After all, there was a good news from the point of view of Eintracht. The Hesse announced that they had committed defenders Arthur Theat from the French first division club Stade Rennes. The Belgian international, who initially only switched to the SGE on a rental base for the current season, receives a contract until 2029.
The Theate, who was standing against Wolfsburg in the starting eleven and his teammates, had to survive the first dangerous situation in the third minute when Joakim Mæhle shot the ball over the goal after a fine flank from Tiago Tomás. On the other hand, Ansgar Knauff VfL keeper Kamil Grabara forced a parade (7th) from a distance.
Shortly afterwards, national player Robin Koch unhappily banged on the lawn during a duel with Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind. With pain in the left shoulder, the defender had to be treated for minutes and then replaced (15th). For him, Rasmus Kristensen came into the game.
In the first half, there was little afterwards. Both teams tried to have a stable defensive and playful control, which, however, was at the expense of the otherwise dangerous offensive of both teams this season. After all, Frankfurt presented the third best attack with 44 goals before the match day, followed by the guests (42).
Grabara prevents quick balance – and then has to get out
