At an attack in the Sudanese city Omdurman, at least 54 people were killed on Saturday, international media report on the basis of the Sudanese Ministry of Health. At least 158 people were also injured. Omdurman is close to the capital Khartoem, on the other side of the Nile River.
The attack took place on a market in the city. According to the first reports from Sudan, the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) is behind the attack. In a response, RSF denies involvement in the attack and points to the Sudanese army. The two parties have been involved in a war since 2023. Government leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dag Alo regularly commissioned attacks. In addition, civilian deaths often fall.
