Highest defeat in history
Embarrassment for German coaches in England
01.02.2025 – 4:34 p.m.Reading time: 2 min.
After a good start to the new year, Brighton & Hove Albion is no longer running smoothly. In Nottingham, the team came under the bikes.
The 0: 1 defeat at Kellerkind Everton last weekend at Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion apparently left traces-and how. The team from the German coach Fabian Hürzeler embarrassed himself a week later with surprise team Nottingham Forest. In the end it was 0: 7 (0: 3) from the perspective of the “Seagulls”.
An own goal of Lewis Dunk opened the goal series in the City Ground (12th minute). Morgan Gibbs-White (25th) and Chris Wood (32nd) screwed the result up before the break.
In the second section, the New Zealand hit twice and laced the triple pack (64th, 69th/foul elf). Wood is now with 17 goals and thus moves in third place behind Mohamed Salah (19 goals) and Erling Haaland (18) in the English elite league list.
Neco Williams (89.) and Jota Silva (90.+1) then put on the crown in Nottingham with their two late hits. Forest thus consolidates three, for the time being, with Arsenal FC. Trainer Nuno Espírito Santo and his team heads for the qualification for the Champions League.
After the violent bankruptcy, Brighton remains in the league table. Hürzeler, who switched from FC St. Pauli to the southern countries last summer, had actually successfully led his team into the new year. Brighton scored seven points from the first three league games and also prevailed in the third round of the FA Cup.
Now the clear kink in the form curve. For Brighton, the 0: 7 at Nottingham was even historical in the end. The bankruptcy symbolizes the highest league defeat in the history of the club.
