For assault while going out in Emmen, an Emmenaar (30) was sentenced to a community service sentence of eighty hours. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) also demanded a conditional prison sentence of two months, but the judge does not think that is necessary.
A young woman was touched by the man last year on February 18, after being pushed by him in an alley. Both knew each other. Others saw no harm in this in the beginning, they thought the woman agreed. But that turned out not to be the case later. The man said he stopped when he realized that she did not like this.
The judge blames the man for unexpectedly pushing the woman in an alley against the wall and touched her. He was guided by his own sexual feelings. He has not had an eye for the consequences for the other. The judge explicitly took into account that the man has his life in order and has no further problems.
The judge does not find treatment. Moreover, the man has not been convicted before. He has to pay the victim compensation of more than a thousand euros.
