Since January 1, 2023, everyone has to wear a helmet on a moped, otherwise a fine of 100 euros will follow. But according to Bjorn from Purmerend, that is nonsense, because a moped goes way too slowly for a helmet. It achieves a maximum speed of 25 kilometers and would therefore be comparable with an electric bicycle.
Bjorn: “I am being overtaken by toddlers who are not even in possession of a bicycle diploma.”
And so he jumped right after entering the helmet obligation without a helmet on his moped to provoke a fine. The day after Liberation Day he got his way, a fine of 100 euros on his doormat. “I really wanted to know, what does the judge think of this?”
