As a curator, Vandermeersch put a varied program together with Avant-Premières, Flemish productions and international films. “About 50 percent of our films have a link with Flanders and Belgium,” says festival director Peter Craeymeersch. “Much of our talent is internationally active. We show new full -length films, documentaries, short films and even Oscargenominated productions.”
The festival started tonight with the film Comeback, the directorial debut of the brothers Jan and Raf Roosens, with Veerle Baetens in the lead. They too got a star on the Zeedijk.
