Gladbach has clarified an important personnel for the future. Roland Virkus remains the “foals” even longer.
Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach has extended the contract with sports manager Roland Virkus, which expires at the end of the season. The club did not provide any information on Friday at the new term. Virkus “took over and reoriented the sporting area in a difficult moment,” said President Rainer Bonhof: “We are very satisfied with the development and appearance of our team this season.”
Virkus took over the position of sports director in February 2022, the 58-year-old succeeded Max Eberl at the time after the current sports director of FC Bayern withdrew. Born in Mönchengladbacher, he has been in the club since 1990, trained various youth teams for 17 years and has been director of young talent for 13 years.
“When designing his new contract, it was important to us to take into account the merits of Roland Virkus and his longstanding belonging to the association,” said Borussia’s chairman of the supervisory board Michael Hollmann: “We agreed on a contract in the joint discussions that for both Pages forms a very good basis for our future cooperation. “
