Seattle in the early nineties, but still not a grunge: punk rock of the high-energy variety.

The simple fact that the band from Yellow Springs, Ohio, moved to Seattle in 1989, was completely enough to take them in Grunge-siped after the appearance of their official debut. That was, with alleviation, gross nonsense, because the French-released French-released Punk offered in 1992, which, however, successfully escaped three-chords. The Gits not only demonstrated the meaning of dynamics and crisp arrangements, but also impressed with her singer Mia Zapata, whose phenomenally vocal, passionate lecture was thrilling in the best sense.

An artistic potential that was not hidden from the East Coast Label Atlantic Records that the band wanted to sign in 1993. In July of the same year, however, during the work on the second album ENTER: The Conquering Chicken an incredible tragedy: Mia Zapata was victim of a – now enlightened – crime.

The Gits dissolved. The freshly remastered vinyl new edition by French, including the “Spear and Magic Helmet”, which was already completed for the second album, and delights with still worth hearing band classics such as “Kings and Queens”, “Second Skin” and “Absynthe”. A worthy monument to an ambitious punk band-and her really exceptionally talented singer.
