Kian Fitz-Jim hopes that Jordan Henderson will stay at Ajax. “He is very important to us,” said the midfielder after a home win on Galatasaray (2-1) in the press room of the Johan Cruijff Arena. “He was the center of our game for the past six months. He is important inside and outside the field. He is a real leader. I really look up to him. I really hope he will stay.”
Henderson was not the captain of Ajax in the Galatasaray game. The 34-year-old Brit gave the band to Remko Pasveer at the last minute. “I don’t know why,” said Fitz-Jim. “I have never experienced that. No, I have not seen that he did not cheer after our goals. But again, I hope he will stay.”
